Guest MATT Posted May 8, 2005 Report Posted May 8, 2005 while on holiday (this weekend) the galaxy was parked up, and some careless women scratched the front left wheel arch with a flaming push chair B) , i called in a VW garage, he was absolutely useless  , called in a private shop, he was a bit more useful  , called in halfords to get a 'touch up kit' not sure on what the colour is, as there is about five million different shades of silver! :P went for the 'moon dust silver metallic paint' will try it later, will post some pic's. Matt, oh yeah, i think my rear washer jet is leaking in the front passenger foot well B) Quote

Guest vr6galaxy Posted May 8, 2005 Report Posted May 8, 2005 VIN plate is located on the B post passenger side or the VIN number is on the scuttle under the bonnet or visable through the windscreen again on the passenger side stuck to the dash IIRC yours is a 95 Ghia available in Crystal White, Solar Silver, Ultramarine, Fleurie Red, Tourmallard Green, Mistral Blue and Nantucket Grey, that help narrow down the colour needed? ? Quote

steve67car Posted May 8, 2005 Report Posted May 8, 2005 if you look at the vin sticker on the small panels 2 or 3 from bottom it will give a number eg f4 that equals colour [f] minstral blue year of manufacture [4] 1994 there you go  :o no need to be in the dark  Quote

Guest MATT Posted May 9, 2005 Report Posted May 9, 2005 well, i smoothed down the filler/primer, and applied the first coat of paint, and it looks darker than the car, i hope that the lacquer helps to lighten it. If anyone can shed any light on this subject, please do, matt :) Quote

Guest MATT Posted May 10, 2005 Report Posted May 10, 2005 unfortunately no, i was asleep, when i heard a 'bang' which woke me up, and there was this women walking past with a push chair, so i got out to have a look, did not see anything, got back in, and waited for my son. then when we got home, my son noticed the scratch on the wheel arch. we were both upset/annoyed by it. matt Quote
Guest MATT Posted May 12, 2005 Report Posted May 12, 2005 Who's been a busy boy then? ive been a busy boy. been sorting all the problems on my gal, 1) drivers side wing mirror was vibrating and moving, when hitting the slightest bump, so whipped the caps off and did the screws up very tight - PROBLEM SOLVED! 2) the dreaded rear washer jet was poor, and the all famous smell of egg, knew it was the pipe under the passenger footwell, removed the trim, lifted the carpet, and sure enough, it was that effort of a 'join' that had almost come completely apart, plugged it together again (after i realised it didn't want to push together easily), and then put all the trim back, tried it - PROBLEM SOLVED! 3) the paint job, sanded it down again with an electric mouse sander, got it very flat and smooth, T-CUT'ed it, the wipe clean, applied thin layer of paint, - up to yet its looking good, - PROBLEM STILL ONGOING! MATT :o will load phots up later  Quote
Guest V6 Owner (George) Posted May 12, 2005 Report Posted May 12, 2005 Sounds nasty, good lick with the scratch and glad you got everything else fixed and working. I know the ford garage had to respray the car when a WHITE VAN MAN riped off my mirrow and scratched and dented all down the side of my car. I hate WHITE VAN MEN. George Quote
Guest MATT Posted June 4, 2005 Report Posted June 4, 2005 ok - update, ive sanded it down again, phoned ford, found out it was satin silver, bought the proper ford spray paint, masked up the galaxy, sprayed it a few times, lacquer, and its looking good - not far off perfect. waiting until tomorrow to see it in day light.
